    Description

LGB 20532 Bundesgartenschau-Express Berlin 1985 Passenger Set. Condition is new (see pictures). This is a classic, rare, dated (1985) G gauge complete vintage train set from 1985. There were only 500 of these made for European distribution. Besides being very rare (particularly in new condition) they have a beautiful shade of blue and crisp graphics. This train was made during the Cold War when Berlin was divided and it was necessary to cross East Germany to attend the garden show this train commemorates.
These remarkable trains are durable, easy to get on the tracks (which are brass for indoor and outdoor use), reliable, and fun to play with. High quality West German manufacture (not China).
The doors open and latch closed using the door handles on both ends of the passenger cars. The roofs are removable to expose the seats inside the car. The engine has both forward and reverse lights. The original paperwork is included with the circle of 12 curved tracks.
There was no US transformer included in 1985 (only 220V in Europe). I do have later U.S. 110 volt LGB transformer and connecting wires that will work perfectly for sale as a “buy it now” option under “LGB 5003 transformer....”. Let me know if you are interested and I will change it to free shipping and include it with your set if you purchase it. Other US transformers of sufficient power will also work (HO transformers do not have enough power). There are other advantages to using the LGB 5003 in ease of use by children. Read my other listing.
This is a well made and solidly constructed set. For those buyers who do not need the track, I will reduce the overall price . Please advise me if you don’t want the track included in the message part of your offer, otherwise I will assume you want it all. This train is packaged in a traditional red window box and is one of the rarest LGB sets in my collection.
For those of you researching prices, the recent sale of (by me) was only for the box, not the actual set.
I collected a number of sets, so check out my other listings.
