On April 22, 2021, the Arizona Diamondbacks visited the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. Taylor Widener started for the Dbacks, while Jeff Hoffman went for the Reds. David Peralta led off the top of the second. HOFFMAN HELD THIS BALL IN HIS HAND!! He threw a 76.3 mph curveball for a called strike. (Yes, that means Tucker Barnhart also touched this ball!!) Hoffman came back with a 92.8 four-seam fastball for another called strike. On the third pitch with this ball, Hoffman threw another curveball, and PERALTA FOULED OFF THIS BALL!! This ball was then retired. Peralta singled on the next pitch. The Diamondbacks went on to win 14-11 behind hits by Pavan Smith, Wyatt Mathisen, Peralta (who had five hits!), Carson Kelly, Eduardo Escobar, Josh Rojas, Kole Calhoun, and Stephen Vogt. (The Reds got hits from Jesse Winker, Nicholas Castellanos, Joey Votto, Eugenio Suarez, Jonathan India, Barnhart, Tyler Naquin, Alex Blandino, and Hoffman.)
