MLB Authenticated - Nicholas Castellanos 124th Career HOME RUN Off Rony Garcia. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail plus Signature Required (which is why handling is high).
On August 2, 2020, the Cincinnati Reds visited the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. It was MLB’s first seven-inning doubleheader (according to the game recap online). In the first game, Rony Garcia started for the Tigers, while Anthony DeSclafani made his 2020 debut. Shogo Akiyama walked to start the game. Nicholas Castellanos followed that with a home run. (Not this ball.) The score remained 2-0 heading into the third. Castellanos led off the inning. With the count 2-2, GARCIA HELD HIS BALL IN HIS HAND!! He threw a 93.7 mph four-seamer, and CASTELLANOS SMACKED THIS BALL OVER THE RF WALL FOR HIS SECOND HOME RUN OF THE GAME, HIS FOURTH HOME RUN OF 2020, AND HIS 124th CAREER HOME RUN (by my count)!! The Tigers would later tie the game when Victor Reyes drove in Dawel Lugo (who ran for Miguel Cabrera), CJ Cron, and Travis Demeritte (who ran for Christin Stewart). The Reds went up 4-3 in the top of the seventh (the final inning) when Akiyama drove in Freddy Galvis after Tucker Barnhart moved Galvis to third. (The Reds also got a hit from Nick Senzel but Mike Moustakas, Eugenio Suarez, Jesse Winker, and Josh VanMeter. Joey Votto did not play as a precaution because he felt under the weather.) This ball is MLB Authenticated for Castellanos’s home run off Garcia in the third inning of the August 2, 2020 game. Please note that this ball does not come with a case. Thank you for purchasing!! And thank you to all the Watchers!! FYI, I will not be making or accepting any offers.
