Jurickson Profar led off the bottom of the second. With the count 1-2, SPARKMAN HELD THIS BALL IN HIS HAND!! He threw a 94.4 mph four-seam fastball, and PROFAR BLASTED THIS BALL 361 FEET TO THE LF WALL, WHERE ALEX GORDON LEAPT UP AND SNAGGED THIS BALL BEFORE IT COULD GET OVER THE WALL FOR A HOME RUN!!
Sparkman got this ball back. Sean Murphy walked to the plate. Sparkman threw a 93.5 mph four-seamer for a ball. (Yes, that means Meibrys Viloria also touched this ball!) Sparkman came back with a 94.7 mph fastball, and MURPHY LAUNCHED THIS BALL OVER GORDON’S HEAD, WHERE IT BOUNCED OFF THE LF WALL!! GORDON THREW THIS BALL TO WHIT MERRIFIELD, BUT MURPHY SLID INTO SECOND BEFORE THE TAG FOR HIS FIFTH DOUBLE OF THE SEASON (AND FIFTH DOUBLE OF HIS CAREER, SINCE 2019 WAS MURPHY’S ROOKIE SEASON)!! This ball was then retired. Marcus Semien drove Murphy in with a home run. Ramon Laureano singled, but Matt Chapman ended the inning by hitting into a double play to Adalberto Mondesi. The A’s eventually lost the game 6-5.
