On September 20, 2021, the Pittsburgh Pirates visited the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. Dillon Peters opened for the Pirates, while Vladimir Gutiérrez started for the Reds.
In the top of the seventh, Michael Lorenzen was on the mound. Hoy Jun Park led off. LORENZEN HELD THIS BALL IN HIS HAND!! He threw a 95.2 mph!! four-seam fastball for a ball. (Yes, that means Tucker Barnhart also touched this ball!) Lorenzen came back with a 95.1 mph!! fastball for a ball. His third pitch was a 94.8 mph sinker for a called strike. On the fourth pitch with this ball, Lorenzen threw an 85.5 mph changeup, and PARK SMACKED THIS BALL TO JONATHAN INDIA, WHO THREW IT OVER TO JOEY VOTTO TO GET PARK AT FIRST!! This ball was then retired. The Pirates ended up losing the game 9-5 despite hits from Cole Tucker, Yoshi Tsutsugo, Bryan Reynolds, Colin Moran, Ben Gamel, and Anthony Alford.
This ball is MLB Authenticated for all four pitches from Lorenzen to Park, including Park’s ground out to India, who threw this ball over to Votto. Please note that this ball does not come with a case. Thank you for purchasing!!
