    An original 3 1/2" x 5" black and white photograph. SS Kassos Photograph 1949 Switzerland Launched on 01.06.1939 as KASSOS by William Doxford & Sons Ltd., Sunderland (Yard No. 650) and delivered in July 1939 to Kassos Steam Navigation Co. Ltd. (Management: Pnevmaticos, Rethymnis & Yannaghas, London), Syra (Syros). Official No.: 302. Cargo gear: 10 cargo winches. 1x 15ton SWL (Save Working Load), heavy lift boom "Jumbo", 10x 5ton SWL derricks. Engine daily consumption: 9 tons. Bunker capacity: 925 tons. Call sign: SVZF. Chartered on 12th October 1939 by the Swiss Government (Swiss War Transport Administration), Kriegs Transport Amt, (KTA), Berne (Management Honegger & Ascott, London). Her first voyage for Switzerland was from Wales to Buenos Aires. The freighter was insured for about 4'900'000 CHF.
