Vintage Scuba Shipwreck Poster - The Famous S.S. WAOME + Commemorative Dive Extras
Here's a nice package
for the shipwreck diver.
It's a large 26" x 18" framed photo of the shipwreck SS WAOME.
The SS WAOME is one of the best known shipwrecks in Ontario and very popular among divers from all over the north east.
Located at about 70' in Lake Muskoka, the WAOME was a passenger steam ship (SS) and sailed the lakes of Central Ontario for almost 25 years.
It sank in a storm & landed upright on the bottom - deep, dark & cold.
This picture poster is unique for the simple reason that it's impossible to photograph the WAOME.
The depth, darkness, cold and murky water make decent photography almost impossible.
No single photo can capture the entire ship.
This photo was made by Les Pullen, a renowned underwater photographer, who made hundreds of dives to shoot the wreck.
Then he painstakingly pieced the images together to produce this picture.
This poster is signed by Les Pullen.
The poster looks quite incredible and would be the highlight of any dive store or diver's den!!
Accompanying this poster is included the booklet written about the 60th anniversary dive by 100 divers in 1994.
The dive was organized by Alec Peirce of The Wet Shop (later Scuba 2000).
This booklet is one of the few remaining numbered books (#4 of 100).
Included is the matching numbered ticket for the dive, a wall certificate for participants & a log book page.
It's a very attractive package for any wreck diving enthusiast & guaranteed to start conversations in any group of divers.
While Mike Nelson of Sea Hunt visited Canada many times, I'm pretty sure he did not dive the WAOME. Too bad. He'd have loved it!
